Edson Keith Mansion is a beautiful, historic wedding venue in Sarasota, FL. It’s located in Phillipi Estate Park and is sometimes called Phillipi Mansion, or Phillipi Creek Mansion.
Thanks to the character and charm built into this spacious, 1926 masterpiece, it’s a dream destination for weddings here in Sarasota. Weddings here can seamlessly transition from indoors to outdoors, with a large terrace out back overlooking the lawn and Phillipi Creek.
Smaller wedding ceremonies can take place inside the mansion. Larger weddings, like the one I photographed here, take place out on the lawn. There’s plenty of space outdoors, as Phillipi Estate Park boasts more than 60 acres of creekside scenery, surrounded by moss-covered oak trees. It creates an old-Florida look that is perfect for photos.
Courtney and Adam got married in October 2022. The weather was perfect, as guests danced outside under the stars until late in the evening.

Thanks to the abundance of space in the mansion, the groom and the bride had their own suites on the second floor. This allowed them to get ready on-site, making logistics easy.
Guests were seated outside on the lawn, overlooking Phillipi Creek. Once the ceremony was underway, the bridal party emerged from the back of the mansion, down the stairs, and toward the altar under the shade of mature oak trees.
After saying “I do”, we took family photos near the creek while the guests made their way to the terrace for drinks. The DJ and bar were set up outside on the terrace since the October weather was very comfortable.
Speeches were made on the terrace while everyone was enjoying a drink. Eventually, guests made their way indoors to make their plates and find a table, courtesy of Sarasota Catering Company.
Dancing took place outside as the sun set over Sarasota. Eventually, it was time for cake. We made out way into the warmly lit library to cut the cake and finish off the celebrations.

One of the biggest benefits of this venue is that you get access to the entire building for up to 15 hours, allowing you to arrive early to prepare for the day and enjoy time with family, and stay as late as midnight. Plus, you can get a 2-hour rehearsal slot as well.
And aside from the spacious suites for getting ready, there’s a private fishing pier and an elaborate rose garden next to the mansion. Tables and chairs are also included.
The venue is just a few minutes south of Downtown Sarasota, a few minutes away from the beaches of Siesta Key, and 9 miles from the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport. Hotels are plentiful just to the south of the venue, as well as on Siesta Key. (And if you’re looking for a place to eat after your rehearsal, Philippi Creek Oyster Bar is 2 minutes away for some excellent dining on the water).
I had an absolute blast photographing this Edson Keith Mansion wedding, and I hope to return to this venue very soon. Not only is it close to my home, but it’s just a beautiful place to spend time, with so much open space and nature surrounding the mansion.
